Mental health is about controlling the brain in a good way and being able to know its capacity in various fields, such as sports, art, science, etc. When a person has well-worked mental health, it means he can deal with the stress, anxiety or any other conflicts that can be faced during the day in either personal or work life. In case mental health isn’t as healthy as supposed to be then it can cause numerous challenges for the person himself as well as his society. There can be many consequences listed as to why people live with mental health issues. More importantly, we can mention the emotional damage, using some drugs that make the brain stop its functions or work worse and also some genetic factors. Additionally, environmental factors are also effective in establishing mental health problems. What are these factors? Economical difficulties, poverty, violence, unfairness or even climate-sharp climate change, and social factors, such as depression, discrimination can be included in this category too. There is always risk in all age stages, however, children at an early age have more chances of having mental health issues. Because of a hard parenting style or punishing or scolding hard, physical harassment or bullying the child or letting the child be bullied by someone. In order to be able to manage the situation when meeting this kind of person, we should firstly be able to determine what the mental health disorders are.

The World Health Organization defines many disorders related to mental health. There can be differentiated main branches of it. Mood disorders, such as depression or bipolar disorder, personality disorder, psychotic disorder, eating disorder, trauma-related disorder, substance abuse disorders.

The symptoms can be different for each disorder. For instance, a person who hears sounds when no one else does might have psychosis disorder, a person who recently gave birth might live postpartum depression, or a person who just broke up in a relationship might have an eating disorder and so on. People might have some hardships in realizing that if they have some mental health issues but the ones around them can do that easily by looking through a few common symptoms, such as;

  1. ●       Changing ideas and turning into the illogical form

    ●       Getting annoyed or nervous for little things

    ●       Losing focus on anything, interruption in attention, and weak memory

    ●       Changing sleep routine

    ●       Getting stuck in food, thinking about counting your weight and being addictive to what you eat during a day

    ●       Losing desire to continue

    ●       Being more introverted and hiding from people

    ●       Using forbidden substances

    ●       Losing the meaning of life and desire to end up living

    ●       Getting addicted to one special topic and spending time on just this topic

    ●       Losing self-care routines and ignoring to-do’s

    ●       Getting worse at school, university, or work.

Being dependent on the symptoms, illness history of the person, the type of mental health disorder the treatment methods can be different as well. In the movies, we have observed many cases related with mental health issues, especially psychological ones. The movies called “The shutter island”, “Glass”, “A beautiful mind” and many examples like these ones can be good study materials too. As we know, in the first movie, the man has mental health issues after killing his wife by himself. The reason is his wife had some mental issues too and when she didn’t get her medicines, she couldn’t control herself and killed her children which made the man lose his mind and have a mental health issue too. Here is the best evidence to show the importance of medical treatment and how dangerous it can be when stopping it before healing completely. In the second part of the movie, they try to treat the man with psychological methods being different from the woman. Teddy Daniels forgets about what he has done and continues his life from the point before he killed his wife. This part is important because it is where he begins to have mental issues. His brain clears the memories because of trauma. When everything is already opened for him, he gets shocked and even at the last point he does not know if he is okay or the doctors are right.

In the movie “Glass”, the main character’s mental health issue is related to the personality disorder, which is about thinking of himself as various people, including woman, criminal, child, coward and so on. This kind of mental health is one of the most dangerous ones, as the person does not remember what he has done when he turns into another. It seems like he lives several lives without any information about one another. That is why they keep this kind of patients mostly at the hospitals under special control. This kind of mental health issue can be seen from childhood and can grow when it is not taken into consideration. The reason for this might be from birth defects or genetic factors. It is the hardest one to be treated, because the person might lie to you and you may be confused.

In the last movie, “A Beautiful Mind” we see the scientist and his mental health. John Forbes Nash is a mathematician and when he first began to study at the university, he began to see the people that no one sees. Long after he realized that, he was schizophrenic and began to get treatment with the help of medicine. This illness can range from being harmless to dangerous. Some people with this condition report hearing or seeing things that instructor command them to do certain actions. This illness can range from being harmless to dangerous. Some people with this condition report hearing or seeing things that instructor command them to do certain actions. In this case, it can be dangerous because they can even do crimes.

In conclusion, movies were referenced, along with explanations of the treatment methods portrayed in them, to illustrate the complexities of mental health issues, their severity, and their importance to society, as these aspects can be difficult to fully understand and appreciate. However, movies based on the real lives of people with these disorders tend to be clearer and easier to understand as we watch them. The aim is to draw attention to mental health and its recovery process, especially in today's digital age, where this issue has become more prevalent. Some children who are more vulnerable are often targeted for bullying, as if they are being used as test subjects. As I mentioned above, the mental health problems mostly begin from early childhood. Additionally, living in cities, being away from nature, getting addicted to our mobile phones or other electronic equipment makes our brain stressed and that causes mental health disorders beginning from small to serious ones in the long term. To ignore it, we should pay more attention to our mental rest by walking in nature, keeping away from the blue screen and reading more, talking with family and friends, spend more time on meditation and be attentive about eating and sleeping habits. Some people can mentally rest while doing yoga, sport; some can do it via praying, some via drawing or painting, and some like reading or writing. The way is individual but the results are common. Be busy with yourselves and understand your needs and meet your demands more and be healthier physically and mentally more!
